Definitive edition on the Ezones (Tsolias) uniforms and arms. Translated by Philippa Currie. The Evzone, better known as the "tsolias", has now become a mythical figure for all Greeks. The word Evzone was, in fact, first used to describe the "well-belted" armed warrior. In more recent Greek history, the Evzone has been identified with the battles for Greek Regeneration which came about wth the 1821 Revolution. From that time onwards the Evzone participated in all the wars and battles which took place for the liberation of the enslaved Greek people, their independence and the sovereignty of Greek soil.
