Golgota Jasnogórska trzeciego tysiaclecia is an art publication documenting the monumental work of Polish painter Jerzy Duda-Gracz: a cycle of eighteen paintings depicting the Passion of Christ, created for the Kaplica Matki Bozej (Chapel of the Mother of God) on the Holy Mountain of Jasna Góra. The book shows the fourteenth stations of the cross as well as additional scenes such as the resurrection and encounters after the crucifixion, placing these works within a contemporary Polish religious and cultural context. The texts (in Polish, English, German and Italian) and illustrations guide the reader through the spiritual and artistic dimensions of this interpretation of the Way of the Cross, which connects tradition and modern art. Jerzy Duda-Gracz (20 March 1941 - 5 November 2004) was a prominent Polish painter and graphic artist, born in Czestochowa and known for his expressive style that often explores social and existential themes within figurative art. He studied at the Akademia Sztuk Pieknych in Kraków and worked as a teacher and professor at art academies in Poland. His oeuvre includes portraits, landscapes and religious cycles, including the Golgota Jasnogórska series, which he created around 2000 to 2001 for the Kaplica Matki Bozej on Jasna Góra. Duda-Gracz's painting is characterised by a powerful combination of symbolism, the human figure and cultural reflection, and he is considered one of the most influential Polish artists of his generation.
